In 2007, the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA wanted the public to be aware that Hardy & Hansons beers on sale in their area were no longer being brewed locally, following closure of the Kimberley brewery by Greene King. Their LocAle scheme was quickly taken up by CAMRA nationally.
The defintion of LocAle varies slightly from branch to branch, but in Herefordshire is taken as real ale brewed at a brewery within the county or no more than 35 miles from a pub.
By introducing this scheme we are encouraging pubs to sell local beers which will reduce the "beer miles" and help to sustain local micro brewers thus benefitting the environment and the local economy.
Pubs which always offer a qualifying beer are listed below.
